Although EPMD and N.W.A both started making noise in '87, and released groundbreaking albums the next year, they never collaborated.

We caught up Erick Sermon on the Rock The Bells Cruise, where he talked about the missed opportunity.

"It's crazy that we never worked together," he says. "We did the video for 'The Big Payback' and we were cool, but I don't know why that never happened. That's crazy because we were both blowin' up at the same time and we were probably both touring at the same time. We were being compared also, as representatives for both of our coasts. It was just the timing." Erick did, however, mention previously working with Ice Cube. The two collaborated on 1993's "The Ill Shit."
