Drake Makes Spotify History, Says Artists Should Get Performance-Based Bonuses

Drake, the king of streaming, has scooped up another big win. He's now the first artist in history with more than 75 billion Spotify streams, according to Chart Data.

Drake took the opportunity to say that artists should be getting monetarily compensated for what they bring to the streaming table. Basically, artists should get performance-based bonuses.

“We should get bonuses like athletes to motivate the future artists to be consistent and competitive… so feel free to send me a Lebron-sized cheque I have enough dinner plates,” he captioned his post.

Earlier this week, TIDAL and Universal Music Group issued a joint statement announcing they'll be working together "to explore an innovative new economic model for music streaming that might better reward the value provided by artists," per Bloomberg. Drake (who is signed to UMG), seems to be co-signing that sentiment.
