D.M.C. of the legendary trio Run-D.M.C. spoke with Rock the Bells on Wednesday (6/22) about his new children's book Darryls' Dream and his What's The Word series on Noggin'. Although D.M.C. was there to promote his book, the subject of Hip-Hop entered the conversation several times, and D.M.C. revealed his excitement for his new upcoming music.

"Don't get it twisted, I'm gonna be makin' music all my life," said The King of Rock. "In August I'm dropping a song called 'Me And My Microphone,' produced [he didn't rap on it because he didn't wanna hurt us] by Bumpy Knuckles who is a great producer and worked with the best and learned with the best."

D.M.C. then continues to rattle off a list of Hip-Hop giants who appear on the song, including Chuck D, Ice-T, and "probably one of the best DJs if not the best DJ ever," DJ Jazzy Jeff.

"The song's droppin' in August, in October at the New York City Comicon. We are droppin' a special limited edition comic book to go with the song," D.M.C. further revealed.

Earlier this year, Rock The Bells reported that D.M.C. partnered with STOI (The Song That Owns Itself) to tokenize his song "Million Scars" — through the partnership fans are enabled to co-own a piece of the song and share in the revenue.

"For years companies have been trying to get me to do something on blockchain," D.M.C. says. "I have been hesitant because so much of it seemed about environmental impact. Releasing a STOI today is my first step in launching my D.M.C. (Decentralized Media Company)."

"Me And My Microphone" drops the first week in August.
