DJ Premier was a guest recently on Power 105's The Breakfast Club where he revealed that he was signed to Terror Squad Records by Fat Joe in the early 2000s, and was supposed to collaborate with 50 Cent.

"[Fat Joe] signed me to Terror Squad and we were supposed to do a project, kinda like how Khaled does compilation albums with features," Preemo revealed. "The first single I was gonna drop was a 50 Cent record. This was when everybody really wasn't messin' with Fif to the fullest because he was havin' so much drama after doin' 'How To Rob.'"

The legendary DJ and producer went on to explain why the 50 Cent song never came to fruition.

"Me and Fif hit it off right away and clicked when I got on the phone with him, and he said he'd do the record," he recalled. "Right when it was time to do the record, boom, we got a call that he couldn't do it because he was about to sign to Eminem and Dr. Dre."

Premier explained that Fifty had already committed to do the record, so he contacted Dre. "Dre. was like 'Preem I love you but he's not doing anymore recording until he finishes this debut album'. Power Of The Dollar was the debut, but he signed to them and did Get Rich or Die Trying and look what happened."

In more recent news, DJ Premier released Hip Hop 50: The Soundtrack, a five-song EP in conjunction with Mass Appeal to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop last week. The project features Slick Rick, Remy Ma, Lil Wayne, Rapsody, Nas and Run The Jewels. Listen to Hip Hop 50: The Soundtrack above.
