J Dilla And Amp Fiddler To Be Honored With Street Naming in Detroit

Detroit music legends J Dilla and Amp Fiddler are amongst five Detroiters who will be honored with secondary street signs in the city. Along with the legendary producers, slain engineering technician Vincent Chin, Detroit Pistons legend Earl Cureton, and Detroit labor leader Horace Sheffield Jr. were selected from a pool of 13 potential honorees submitted by petitioners.

"Everyone here that was recommended is notable, is honorable, has done great things for our city, and we appreciate that this is very difficult for us to only select five," said City Council President Mary Sheffield.

The decision to honor these Detroiters came after a vote on yesterday (10/22) by Detroit City Council. The honorees who were not chosen are automatically placed on the list for 2025 consideration, according to Historic Designation Advisory Board director Janese Chapman.
