Diddy Hosts 2022 Billboard Music Awards: "Awards Shows Are Boring..."

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards were held last night (May 15) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and some of music's biggest and brightest were on-hand for the affair. Diddy served as the night's host, and he'd already made headlines after promising to “un-cancel the canceled." These BBMAs marked Travis Scott’s first televised performance since the Astroworld tragedy.

Diddy got Twitter buzzing repeatedly throughout the night; often going off-script and encouraging other presenters and performers to do engage in the same offhand spirit.

“This is a full-circle moment for me," he said. "I won my first Billboard Award 25 years ago — and now I’m executive producing and hosting the awards because I hate awards shows, awards shows are boring. You know why they’re boring? Because of the people at the awards shows but we’re not having that tonight.”

Kanye West took home three Christian awards; as Drake took home the awards for Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist and Top Rap Album.

Mary J. Blige was honored with the night's ICON Award, presented by Janet Jackson.

"The way the world is now, I think people think icons are born that way, that they become a legend overnight, but that is definitely not the case," Blige said. "It takes a lot of time, hard work, and a lot of surviving, trial and error, to achieve greatness.

"The message of my music has always been that we are not alone in our struggles and I'm not alone now. For so long I was searching for real love, but I finally found my real love -- and that real love is me."
