'8 Mile' Soundtrack Deluxe Edition Drops Friday

Published Thu, October 27, 2022 at 2:28 PM EDT

Just in time for next month's 20th anniversary of 8 Mile, an extended version of the soundtrack will hit streaming services on Friday (10/28).

Eminem made the announcement on social media on Wednesday (10/26) with the caption “I’m still standing here screaming "f*** the Free World. #8Mile 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the soundtrack drops on streaming Friday!"

There has been no information provided by Eminem or his label which if any new recordings will appear on the new version.

The original soundtrack titled: 8 Mile: Music from and inspired by the Motion Picture, was released on October 29, 2002, 10 days before the film debuted in theatres. The soundtrack included songs by 50 Cent, Nas, Jay-Z, Gang Starr, Xzibit, Rakim, and Eminem's #1 hit "Lose Yourself." "Lose Yourself" spent 12 weeks at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and won two Grammys as well as an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Mobb Deep's Havoc recently revealed to HipHopDX that he still receives royalties from the inclusion of "Shook Ones Pt.II" which he produced and was featured in the film.

"I was really taken back because I didn't know that Eminem was a fan, "The Queensbridge beatsmith and MC said. "To hear that, I found out that he was a fan and then the cha-ching sound went off in my head. The royalties bought this Fendi sweater." Havoc was also asked in the interview about his favorite verse from his late partner in rhyme Prodigy. "I know it sounds cliche, but it has to be 'Shook ones'," he said. "He goes 'Official Queensbridge murderers the Mobb comes equipped for warfare, beware of my crime family who got 'nuf shots to share for all of those.'"

Eminem will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 5 at L.A.'s Microsoft Theatre.
