Bumpy Knuckles recently posted his frustration with the lack of credit and respect that the first generation rap artists are receiving.

In a post that included audio from his 2018 DJ Premier-produced song "Legends" from his Pop Dukes project. "I notice that when Hip-Hop starts talking about Hip-Hop they start with the 90s," Bumpy said on the track. "All of those guys who are our teachers and forefathers are not getting proper credit. It was a key era. The beginning is always key."

Elsewhere in the post, he speaks about how Hip-Hop has been co-opted. "No matter how you articulate your feelings about 'Our Culture' there are levels and no one could ever deny that it's been milked, pimped, and ravaged by Culture Vultures who have helped to keep us more divided in ideas and the outcome of those ideas."

Bumpy continued to highlight the generational gaps and differences in ideologies in Hip-Hop. "It's sad that with Hip-Hop making a 50-year show up that we are nowhere near on the same page," he said. "The young heads feel excluded and they are not talking about a 50th anything, and the true OG's are reminded that they are being pushed deeper into the back of the minds of those new rappers and DJs."

Bumpy also called out Hip-Hop media in his post. "Shit is fucked up that anyone would disrespect the architects of Hip-Hop culture no matter what we may or may not agree with," he explained. "The (Hip-Hop) media, when did we stop platforming the artform for its greatness and switch to the fuckery all the time, giving credibility to anyone who knows how to rhyme a few words as opposeed to real MCs and talented DJs?"
