The official trailer for Boots Riley's latest project, I Am A Virgo, a coming-of-age series about a 13-foot-tall teenager growing up in Oakland has arrived.
The series stars Emmy winner Jharrell Jerome (When They See Us, Moonlight) as Cootie, a supersized teen who leaves his childhood home to discover the world. Amazon describes the series as “a darkly comedic fantastical coming-of-age joyride” and a “mythical odyssey that questions the purpose of the mythical odyssey.”
The series is Riley's first project since 2018's surreal satire Sorry To Bother You starring LaKeith Stanfield and Tessa Thompson. He serves as creator and executive producer for the series and also wrote and directed all seven episodes. The trailer features an ode to Hip-Hop, with both Digable Planets and E-40 soundtracking it.
All seven episodes of I’m a Virgo will be available to stream June 23 on Prime Video. Watch the trailer below.
