Black Star, (aka rap duo Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli), is going to be performing next month. AEG Presents has announced a rare Black Star appearance at Denver’s Mission Ballroom on July 28. Also performing that night will be dead prez and Pharoahe Monch with Marcus Machado of TH1RT3EN and Smithsonian.

Black Star released No Fear Of Time, their first album in almost 25 years, in May. The album was only made available via the Luminary podcast network. The duo revealed the album was recorded "in hotel rooms and dressing rooms across the globe,” as the duo reconnected and traveled the world together. In a recent interview with HipHopDX, Pharoahe Monch shared his excitement for this Denver show.

“I’m super excited about Denver,” Monch said. “I’m super excited about Napa [with Thundercat, Robert Glasper, Maxwell] in terms of all the things we lost because of the pandemic. Being a new band, we’re kinda just getting started again. We had everything planned before the pandemic.

“It was hard for us to get on things as soon as the concert industry opened. Festivals are starting to invite us now though. With Denver, they wanted me solo, but I’m like, ‘Nah man.’ It’s a good opportunity to get a new song out from the album.”

Show tickets go on sale Friday (June 17) at $49.50 to $99.50 plus applicable service charges. Find more information here.
