Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli are officially back with a new Black Star album after a 24-year hiatus. No Fear of Time premiered exclusively on the Luminary Podcast Network as a special episode on Dave Chappelle and Black Star’s podcast, The Midnight Miracle. The nine-track album is completely produced by California producer, Madlib, who delivers a collection of hypnotizing lo-fi loops, serving as the canvas for the duo’s lyrical acrobatics. 

The duo revealed the album was recorded, in hotel rooms and dressing rooms across the globe,” as the duo reconnected and traveled the world together, making for another impressive Black Star project. 

The album opens with “OG” and takes listeners on a galactic sonic experience, with songs like “Yonders”  and “Supreme Alchemy,” and closes with the album’s title track, which ends with some words about the impact of Black artists and Black music. 

Talib Kweli explained the duo’s decision to exclusively release the album on their official podcast, saying they wanted Black Star’s music to be valued as art, reserving the album for genuine fans of the music. 

"People spend money on things that are important to them," he says. "But when you ask them to support art, they balk. Because why wouldn't somebody go to a Spotify, where you could pay $10 to hear any song you want? The onus is on me as the creator to figure out and set the price point and tell the people what my art is worth."
