Janette Beckman has had a knack for being in the right place at the right time during her illustrious photo career. When 'The New York City Rap Tour' hit London in 1982, she was there to get a photo of Crazy Legs which showed just how dope the performance truly was.

In the ’60s, New Yorkers began referring to Happy Warrior Playground as the Goat Courts, where street baller Earl “the Goat” Manigault earned a reputation for using his 50-inch vertical leap to snatch quarters off the top of the backboard. Then came the ’80s and a new nickname, after the Rock Steady Crew adopted the park as home base to develop their own freakish physical abilities.
