In his NPR-sponsored Tiny Desk Home Concert, Too Short ripped through a classic set that included “The Ghetto," “Life Is Too $hort.” “Gettin’ It, ” Blow The Whistle," "Ain’t My Girlfiend,” “Big Sexy Thang,” and “Big Subwoofer.”
Surrounded by classic boomboxes, home speakers, and a live band, $hort Dog showed why he’s one of the genre's best. During the set $hort asks the question “How many artists you know got relevant records in 5 decades?”
Too $hort is referring to a career with recordings that span back to the year that Run-D.M.C. dropped their sophomore album (1985) until current day. The Oakland mainstay is one of the original “out of the trunk/do it yourself” artist in the Rap genre. $hort collaborated with Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, E-40 on “Mount Westmore” last year. The foursome is reported to have recorded more that 50 songs together. The span of his career highlights the fact that $hort is one of the most underrated artists in Hip Hop.
