Washington D.C.'s National Hip-Hop Museum honored The Lady Of Rage and Grand Puba in a grand induction ceremony on Saturday (9/28). A podcast hosted by the museum's historian JayQuan preceded the ceremony, which included an extensive interview where the inductees revealed that they met in the early '90's at New York's famed Chung King recording studios where Rage worked as receptionist.

"That's where I met her, at Chung King in the early '90s," Puba said during the one hour podcast where Rage spoke about her early collaborations with Finesse & Synquis, The L.A. Posse, and Chubb Rock under the name "Rockin' Robin". Puba revealed his early affiliation with DJ Jazzy Jay and Rocky Bucano at Strong City Records, and the DITC legends who were "babies" at the time. "Diamond D and Master Rob were there, and Lord Finesse and Showbiz were just coming to the studio," the "360 (Whats Goes Around)" MC said. "They were waiting for their turn to get on and they were just babies at the time. We all came from that Strong City era."

In their acceptance speeches both Rage and Puba expressed gratitude and thanks for the recognition that mainstream entities have failed to bestow upon them. "I may not have the Grammy's and other big awards, but this means more," said Rage. "This shows that there are those who respect skills, and that I affected someone out there."

"I'm here today because of y'all, and what I've done for the last 30 or 40 years I've done because I love it," Grand Puba said. "I say love what you do. Some people get discouraged because it didn't happen when they wanted it to, but it happens when it's supposed to." Congrats to The Lady Of Rage and Grand Puba.
