They were both close to Kane growing up. In addition to their personal relationship with him, they recognize he is a neighborhood hero. With that kind of respect, Kane has the soldiers behind him to start and, more importantly, win a war.

On the other hand, Louie and Jerome would rather meet violence with violence. So while Leon sits down with Kane, Louie propositions Officer Buckely and Jerome searches for Peaches. And, of course, Franklin has personal and professional business to handle in the midst of it all. 

Leon’s encounter with Kane is relatively peaceful. He offers Kane an explanation for Kevin’s murder, highlighting, Franklin didn’t have many options. Kevin turned against them and put everyone’s life in jeopardy when he decided to take on the Mexican cartel single-handedly. Leon understands nothing can bring Kevin back; nonetheless, he can help Kane provide for his family. In lieu of trying to kill each other, he suggests, they sell dope together. Kane is down to do business and starts with ten keys. 

Finally, they complete the drop but not before Teddy admonishes Franklin. He blames him for the attack and has new rules for the young mogul, including no more high-profile real estate deals. 

On the home front, Franklin’s caught between his mother and girlfriend. He discovers Cissy encouraged Veronique to distance herself from him. He wants his mother out of his relationship and to solve their legitimate business issues. Cissy, who believes her son is unprepared for the danger he’s facing, sets up a surveillance apparatus in his office. An unknown government agency gave her the equipment earlier in the season under the guise of targeting Teddy. 

There’s an underlying awkwardness because, during the shooting, Teddy abandoned Oso, but Franklin saved his life twice. We’re left hanging. Oso doesn’t make a decision either way.

Louie reaches out to Buckley and asks him to kill Kane for $150K. After looking into the logistics, he confirms he can do it but needs to know Louie is sure. Initially, she’s cold and calculated, then realizes the stakes and hesitates. Again we don’t witness a definitive answer, but given she eagerly ordered the hit, we can only assume she doubled down. 

Jerome is determined to hunt down Peaches but ultimately finds himself. He starts at a veteran’s clinic, questions a doctor, but doesn’t learn much. The doctor, however, recognizes Jerome’s physical and psychological trauma. He splints the elder Saint’s hand and suggests group therapy. Jerome declines, but the mere thought changes something in him. 

Oakley, a young veteran and addict, spots Jerome as he’s leaving the clinic and volunteers to take him to Peaches. They arrive at a crack house, and the worst is true: Peaches was using and sold the crew out to Kane. 

After digesting the news, Jerome chooses his dreams. He proposes to Louie but is stepping away from the drug game. She accepts the ring and this new way of life. Now engaged, he returns to the block where it all started.
