Snoop Dogg On Removing Death Row Albums from DSPs: ”Those Platforms Don’t Pay...”

Snoop Dogg's recent appearance on the popular Drink Champs podcast has the people talking. In the interview, the Doggfather addressed the controversy surrounding his ownership of Death Row Records and explained why so many classic Death Row albums have been pulled off of popular streaming apps like Spotify.

Fans were shocked to see that albums like Dr. Dre's The Chronic and Snoop's own debut Doggy Style were no longer available to stream on the most popular platforms. But Snoop explains that he has a bigger plan in store for those beloved works.

“First thing I did was snatch all the music off those platforms traditionally known to people, because those platforms don’t pay,” Snoop shared.

“And those platforms get millions of millions of streams, and nobody gets paid other than the record labels. So what I wanted to do is snatch my music off, create a platform similar to Amazon, Netflix, Hulu. It’ll be a Death Row app, and the music, in the meantime, will live in the metaverse.”
