RTB Rewind: The Krush Groove Christmas Party At Madison Square Garden

On December 27, 1985, Run-DMC, WHODINI, Kurtis Blow, Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, Doug E. Fresh, and LL COOL J took the stage at Madison Square Garden's Felt Forum for what was billed as "The Krush Groove Christmas Party."

Krush Groove, the movie starring Run-DMC, The Fat Boys, Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, and LL COOL J was released nearly two months to the day on October 25, and the concert was a celebration of the movie's success. According to the flyer for the historic concert, showtime started at 8:00 p.m., and all tickets were reserved at prices of $17.50 and $15.50.

According to the New Musical Express, Run of Run-DMC was experiencing some health issues and it was announced that he would not be in attendance.

The historic concert marked the first time that a Hip-Hop concert took place at the Garden.
