Method Man's 1994 release Tical marked the first of many official solo Wu-Tang Clan projects. Still red hot off of the clan's Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and the single "Method Man," Meth made perfect sense as the first clan member to release a project.

He was an early fan favorite and one of the more dynamic and animated MCs in a group full of dynamic animated wordsmiths. Even Meth's parts on the classic Enter The Wu-Tang skits were favorites among fans, but Meth told Desus and Mero that Ol' Dirty was supposed to be first. "Dirty couldn't finish his, he took the budget money and ran with it," he said. "He bought this little piece of shit ass car. A red Hyundai I think. He loved that car."

Tical starts with the title song and it's Kung Fu flick intro giving fans a taste of what they fell in love with on the clans debut. "Tical" is a homage to a weed strain, but Meth told Desus and Mero that it was actually an acronym - Taking Into Consideration All Lives. The slow tempo intro track sets up the project perfectly and is followed by "Biscuits" with its boom bap drum pattern and keyboard sound effects.

"Bring The Pain," the lead single, sounds like it would have fit perfectly on Enter The Wu-Tang. Meth rides the track perfectly with his almost sing-songy cadence. "Release Yo Delf", the second single from the album is an uptempo high-energy song with its sung hook — an interpolation of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive".

"All I Need," the album's biggest hit, is an update of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's 1968 hit "You're All I Need To Get By. "Remixed in the summer of 1995 the Razor Sharp Mix and Puff Daddy's remix feature Mary J. Blige. RZA's version was the more popular, with a video that helped the song reach #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hot Dance, Rap and R&B charts. It also received a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by A Duo or Group in 1996 contributing also to the platinum status of the album.

"Sub Crazy," "P.L.O. Style" and "Meth vs Chef" featuring Raekwon round out a classic debut album that further cemented the Wu-Tang dynasty.
