Legendary Hip-Hop group Salt-N-Pepa received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Nov. 4, in a celebratory event that drew out Hip-Hop icons including DJ Spinderella MC Lyte, Kid 'n Play and Roxanne Shanté, who interviewed the duo in an exclusive, entertaining interview for ROCK THE BELLS.

"Ladies, listen, it was an honor for me to be chosen," said Roxanne, who also was a guest speaker at the ceremony. "It was an honor for me to get up there. You know, we have so many Hip-Hop sisters, and for you guys to choose me ... I just felt really special."

Also on hand at the ceremony and after-party event was Yo-Yo, who was especially excited to give the iconic group their flowers.

Incredibly influential, Salt-N-Pepa was the first female rap act (solo or group) to have a multi-platinum selling album with their 1993 release, Very Necessary. The album marked another level of accomplishment for the group, selling over seven million copies worldwide (five in the U.S.), and peaking at #4 on the Billboard 200. It came on the heels of consistent success on the charts, courtesy of albums including Blacks' Magic and their acclaimed debut Hot, Cool & Vicious.

In a lively, historic sit down with Roxanne Shanté, who also hosts Have A Nice Day on Rock The Bells Radio, the three rap legends talked about everything from being a woman in a male-dominated industry to paving a path for other women to follow. They also talked about Salt-N-Pepa's incredibly influential fashion sense early on, which Roxanne praised for being innovative.

"Nobody was thinking about going and getting a pair of brand new GAP jeans and going ahead and shredding them up and then going out there and just shake it," Roxanne said. "Nobody was thinking about putting on a leather jacket having just the leggings and the boots ... because I couldn't afford them a fucking leather pants to go in the middle," she laughed.

Salt explained that their signature look came from them simply being themselves.

"[We brought] fun, fashion and femininity to Hip-Hop," Salt explained. "You know, we were just to round away girls, actual friends. Just doing us being us. The hat was from a woman named Mary in Harlem. Play from Kid N Play design the jacket. Dapper Dan constructed the jacket, and girl, we got the boots from Favor. We were just figuring it out. You know what I mean? That's being authentic and being ourselves and I think that resonated with everyone all women."
