In a recent interview with Rock The Bells Radio Queensbridge legend and Juice Crew pillar Roxanne Shanté expressed her love for Queens.
"That's where I'm from," Shanté, who also hosts Have A Nice Day on Rock The Bells Radio, proudly proclaimed. "I'm a Queen, and where else can you find them but Queens? It'll always be special to me! Growing up there it's unlike any other place, and I come from Queensbridge. When Queens is in the name of the place that you come from — Queens in Queensbridge, and I'm the Queen? It doesn't get any more Queens than that baby!"
It was in the Queensbridge projects where fellow QB legend Marley Marl interrupted her trip to the laundry room to get her to record a reply to U.T.F.O.'s wildly popular 1984 hit "Roxanne, Roxanne". The resulting answer record would kick off the "Roxanne Wars," while launching her recording career with rap's first diss record.
