In an interview with HipHopDX, Redman confirmed that his long-awaited follow-up Muddy Waters 2 is definitely dropping sometime this year.
The announcement came while he was detailing the story behind his popular "Soopaman Luva" installments. “‘Soopaman Luva 7’ is lit and it’s long,” he aid. “And I already did the animated video to it two years ago. I was ahead of the game. I’m dropping Muddy Waters 2 this fucking year. Hands down.”
As for the "Sooperman Luva" series, it was famously launched on Red's 1992 release Whut? Thee Album and was initially inspired by EPMD's "Jane" and Slick Rick's "Children's Story." Built around a sample of Johnny Guitar Watson’s 1976 gem, “Superman Lover,” from his Ain’t That A Bitch album, the series remains one of The Funk Doc's creative stamps more than 30 years later. The last installment, "Sooperman Luva 6," dropped back in 2007 on Red Gone Wild and featured the late Hurricane G. It was produced by Erick Sermon with a prominent sample of Curtis Mayfield's classic, "Give Me Your Love."
Redman recently collaborated with Prof for the track "Pack A Lunch." Last year, he released the track "So Cool," which was set to be the first single from Muddy Waters 2. Take a listen to it below.
