Rakim announced on his IG earlier today (Aug. 8) that he is postponing his upcoming European Summer tour due to COVID concerns.

"After a difficult few days of consulting with my doctors and management, we have made the decision to postpone my Summer 2022 European tour," the post said.

According to the statement, cases of COVID amongst Rakim's staff was partially responsible for the postponed dates. "After a month in which we have had several Covid cases in our crew and even more close contacts requiring quarantine it is our sad consensus that extended foreign travel is neither safe or logistically possible for myself and my team," the statement said.

According to the post, Rakim's team is working with promoters to reschedule the tour and confirming new dates in the UK, with the rest of Europe following shortly. Previously purchased tickets will be honored for rescheduled dates, and those unable to attend the new shows need to reach out to their point of purchase for options.

Rakim will be performing this Saturday (Aug. 13) at the Rise Up NYC Concert for Unity, Respect and Freedom in Queens at Roy Wilkins Park. The event is free to the public and will also feature Ja Rule, The Lox and Funkmaster Flex. Doors open at 3PM and showtime is from 4-8p.
