Queen Latifah has reportedly had a "no death scene" clause in her movie contracts. A recent listicle from Buzzfeed pointed out " " in superstars' movie contracts, and, since sometime in the early 2000s, at least, Latifah has had the clause. A 2017 segment of The Late Show With James Corden featured Queen Latifah, birth name Dana Owens, telling Tracey Ullman about it.

"When I first started doing movies, I always had these death scenes," Latifah explains. "In Set It Off, I got killed; in Sphere, I got killed. And apparently, I died too well." She soon realized how this could be to her disadvantage. "And then I caught on: If I die too well, then I can't be in the sequel! Get my agent on the phone and we will put a 'no die' clause in these future movie contracts." Fellow actor Morris Chestnut was also a guest on the show, and joked that he needed to do same because he's died in a few movies, as well.

Queen Latifah recently co-starred opposite Adam Sandler in the Lebron James produced Netflix hit Hustle. The sports drama stars Sandler as Stanley Sugerman, a Philadelphia 76ers talent scout who is tired of traveling and searching for the next unknown talent, usually at the expense of his family. Sugerman instead wants to be a coach, and Queen Latifah plays his wife Teresa, who supports him as his search around the world leads him to Spain, where he discovers Bo Cruz (played by real life NBA player Juancho Hernangomez), who he bonds with over a shared love for family and passion for basketball.
