Pete Rock Threatens to Leave Twitter After Nas' 'Kings Disease III' Mention

Following a mention on Nas' new album Kings Disease III, legendary producer Pete Rock has threatened to leave Twitter after his name started trending.

"I will be deactivating my Twitter sooner than soon so whatever I'm trending about I DO NOT CARE," the Soul Survivor producer posted. He continued, "To all my real fans that genuinely love ya boy get ready for a barrage of the dopest music you're gonna hear in hip hop Peace!! Strong Producer."

Pete Rock was trending due to a lyric on "30" from the third installment in Nas' Kings Disease series. On the song, Nas' spits, "Superhero material, rap star status Premier album still might happen, I wonder why Pete Rock would act like that, that type behavior make me give rap right back."

Nas' lyric references an ongoing lawsuit that was announced earlier this year in which Pete Rock is suing Nas over royalties from Nas' Illmatic. Pete Rock produced "The World Is Yours," and performed the hook on the song. "The World Is Yours" is the only song from the album to receive a gold plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America.

"Nas and his people stonewalled me since 1994. My New Year's resolution is to be compensated for my hard work on Illmatic," Pete said back in January.

Pete Rock's team told Rolling Stone that the producer has been getting publishing royalties which compensate the creators of the composition and lyrics of a song, but they claim that he has not been paid master royalties since 1994, and they claim that he could be owed up to "a million or more."
