Never one to bite his tongue, legendary DJ and producer Pete Rock tweeted recently his displeasure with producers who sample current music and don't dig for more obscure sample sources.

"They are resampling rap and R&B records that was made 3-4 years ago," he tweeted with laughing emojis. "No diggin' for hits, they sampling what was already a hit recently."

The tweet which was seen more than half a million times, was met with many replies that pointed out that this practice was nothing new to Hip-Hop.

"LL COOL J took the En Vogue song 'Hold On' for 'Boomin' System' — they both was released in 1990," one user replied. Another user pointed out that some of the earliest rap records were based on recent hits. "'Rappers Delight' came out literally 2 months after 'Good Times'. Its literally been done since day one," one person replied.

Pete is no stranger to critique on social media. He threatened to leave Twitter last year in the wake of Nas mentioning him on Kings Disease III, and Pete going viral as a result. On "30" Nas spits: "Superhero material, rap star status/Premier album still might happen/I wonder why Pete Rock would act like that, that type behavior make me wanna give rap right back."

Nas was speaking of a lawsuit where Pete Rock claims that he was never paid for production from Nas' debut album Illmatic.

"I will be deactivating my Twitter sooner than soon so whatever I'm trending about I DO NOT CARE," the Soul Survivor producer posted. He continued, "To all my real fans that genuinely love ya' boy get ready for a barrage of the dopest music you're gonna hear in hip hop Peace!! Strong Producer."
