"We've had problems with DJ's our whole lives," said EPMD's Parrish "PMD" Smith on a recent episode of Sway's Wake Up Show. PMD says that all of their DJ's were great, but when they had a problem with their last DJ they brought a reel to reel tape machine on the road as a temporary DJ.

"We go in these big venues with a reel to reel and no DJ, and Jam Master Jay saw us," he said. "He didn't have to take his Saturday off and pick up Scratch from Brooklyn and drive to Jersey. They watched us come up the east coast with no DJ.

DJ Scratch verified PMD's story on IG, posting: "This is all facts. When JMJ took me to the EPMD show, their bodyguard was onstage with a reel to reel machine hitting start and stop. JMJ said WTF our they doing?" DJ Hurricane, Jam Master Jay's childhood friend and former Beastie Boys DJ also chimed in, replying: "True story. Jay was on they neck about not having a DJ."
