Nicki Minaj has dropped her first solo single in three years, the Rick James-sampled "Super Freaky Girl."

Nicki asked her fans earlier this month to help name the single, and even though "FREAK" won over the current title, she explained she couldn't use it for legal reasons.

Nicki is set to receive the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, and ahead of her award and performance, she thanked Missy Elliott for her "iconic artistry." She'll also perform at the award show this year.

Earlier this month, she announced a new six-part documentary about her life and rise in Hip-Hop is on the way. She recently shared a trailer that showcases her in various growth stages — as an unknown rapper struggling to make it, then as a successful superstar and one of the biggest names in pop music.
