Master P on His Daughter's Overdose: "I'm Going to Get Out Here And Save Millions"

Master P opened up to Gayle King of CBS Mornings after the recent drug-related death of his 29-year-old daughter Tytyana Miller, who had battled substance abuse for more than a decade. She passed away in May.

"It's hard coming from where I come from, coming from poverty you think that you'll outlive your kids and that was the mission," the "Ice Cream Man" rapper said.

Master P said that attending his daughter's funeral felt like he was attending his own and that he never wants to go to another funeral. P promised to turn his pain into passion and purpose.

"It's something that I can't stop thinking about, but I have to get out here and save other kids."

Speaking on the reality show Growing Up Hip Hop, he said that the progress that Tytyana displayed on the program was real.

"She was getting better, we had just gotten her out of rehab and she was on the right track," he said. "The sad thing about it is that she wanted to help people. She said that she wanted to be the president and she was writing a book."

Looking inward, Master P says that he questions what he could have done or said differently. He recalled a family meeting after Tytyana's passing where he asked his eight remaining children what he was doing wrong.

"Some of the kids said 'you're controlling' so I had to look into my own mirror, but I was only setting parameters for protection," he said.

Master P says that he is now working with doctors and organizations to bring awareness of substance abuse and mental health issues. "I don't know why you put me through this God, and I'm not going to question you, but I'm gonna get out here and save millions."
