Mary J. Blige is busier than ever these days. She’s fresh off the heels of her Super Bowl LVI halftime performance, she just received an NAACP Image Award for Best Supporting Actress In A Drama Series and she recently dropped her latest full length album Good Morning Gorgeous. The Queen of Hip Hop Soul announced on Wednesday (2/2) that she is partnering with the Lifetime network to executive produce a romantic drama titled Real Love that is inspired by her  first top ten hit from 1992 of the same name.

Tanya Lopez of Lifetime says: “Mary is one of those phenomenal talents that can do it all, and we are thrilled to be able to partner with her again on this new opportunity to bring her music to life in the form of a movie that we know audiences will love.”

Blige executive produced Lifetime’s top-rated original movie of 2020 The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies Of Gospel along with Queen Latifah and Missy Elliot, as well as executive producing her critically acclaimed documentary Mary J. Blige’s My Life.

When speaking of “Real Love” Mary says: “I wrote ‘Real Love’ based on my life experiences and fans connected to it in a deeply personal way. It’s exciting now to use this song and my music to create a new story by way of film, continuing to build on a pillar of the foundation of my production company, Blue Butterfly. My passions for acting and music now include developing diverse stories with music as the backdrop. I am grateful to Lifetime for their partnership in the story of Real Love."
