Reservoir Media announced that it has purchased a stake in legendary Hip-Hop producer Marley Marl's catalog. The library encompasses a portion of the In Control producer's catalog; including projects with LL COOL J, TLC, Busta Rhymes, Nas and more. No amounts or percentages were disclosed, but according to Digital Music News, Reservoir reported last week that it had spent $224 million across 110 transactions during the 2022 fiscal year. At the quarter's end they reportedly possessed 140,000 copyrights and 36,000 masters. Reservoir also has pacts with Hip-Hop producer Dan The Automator and the estate of the late superproducer Larry Smith.

Faith Newman is Executive Vice President of A&R and Catalog Development for Reservoir Media. "We are honored to represent Marley's catalog," Newman explained. "He has been shaping Hip-Hop music since it's beginning and we are proud to support all of his impressive contributions to the genre."

"I'm so excited to be partnering with Reservoir," the iconic DJ and producer said of the deal. "Faith Newman and I go back for decades, and I know she and the team truly care about my music. Im so happy that they are going to be the new home for my catalog."

Other high profile deals include the Tommy Boy record label acquisition and a Joni Mitchell administration deal.
