At the L.A. leg of The F.O.R.C.E. Tour, held at the Kia Forum, Chuck D and LL COOL J shared a memorable "full circle" moment together. While the two legends hung out backstage, Chuck shared with LL a memory from his days at Adelphi University's radio station WBAU when LL was only 17 years old.
"I called you and asked if you were familiar with the station, and you said you were," Chuck told LL. "I told you that we were having an event at Roller Castle and I needed you to judge it and you were like, 'Yeah, I'll be there.'"
Chuck then recalled that LL not only showed up to judge the event, but he performed as well. "Dre [from WBAU, Original Concept, Yo! Mtv Raps] starts spinning, and you started rockin', and people weren't even mad that Masterdon Committee didn't show up. Tonight, you called up and asked me to come down, and I was almost ready to pull off my socks, but I came on down. That's a 360, full circle story!"
Chuck D and LL COOL J are both Def Jam Records alumni under the tutelage of Rick Rubin, who was instrumental in signing both acts to the iconic label.
