Lil Wayne has broken his silence on the choice of Kendrick Lamar as the Super Bowl 2025 halftime show headliner. On an IG post earlier today (9/13), Wayne thanked those who have supported him. "First of all, I want to say forgive me for the delay. I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking,” he said. “I’m gonna say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, all love and support out there. Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back.”

Wayne continued, "That hurt, it hurt a lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a let down. [I] put myself in that position, like somebody told me that was my position. I thought it was nothing better than that spot, that stage, and platform. It made me feel like shit not getting this opportunity, but you guys reminded me that I aint shit without y'all. It broke me, and I'm just trying to put myself together."

Since the announcement earlier this week (9/8) of Kendrick Lamar as Super Bowl 2025 halftime show headliner, several top names in Hip-Hop have voiced disagreement with the choice. Nicki Minaj, Master P, Cam'ron, Baby and others have suggested that Lil Wayne would be a better choice as a native of New Orleans where the Super Bowl is played this year.
