Killer Mike will be the keynote speaker at Free Speech Makes Free People, a black-tie optional Manhattan gala spearheaded by FIRE Foundation of Individual Rights and Expression), that aims to defend free speech.

“If you don’t believe in freedom of speech for those people you don’t agree with, you don’t believe in freedom of speech at all,” Killer Mike said, per Spin. “I encourage people to make sure that you’re strict about making sure your Constitutional rights are protected and covered."

The FIRE event, which takes place on April 18, will also feature talks by other activists and scholars including FIRE co-founder Harvey Silverglate, a law professor and American Council for Civil Liberties veteran. Kmele Foster, a political commentator and partner at Freethink, a digital media company focused on the people and ideas changing our world, will serve as host for the night.

Killer Mike also recently was involved in another community campaign, “Live to the Beat" hosted by ROCK THE BELLS and the CDC. The event aimed to empower the Black community to take action and lower their risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
