According to AllHipHop, the men alleged to have murdered Hip Hop icon Jason Mizell aka Jam-Master Jay will head to trial this fall. In an exclusive reveal, AllHipHop states that “barring any unforeseen delays, jury selection for the case will begin on September 22nd, 2022. After selecting jurors opening statements and testimony will commence on September 26th, 2022."
It was reported in November of 2021 that Karl Jordan and Ronald Washington, the two men accused of killing the legendary deejay, producer and member of Run D.M.C. will not face the death penalty if they are convicted. Instead, the suspects could receive up to life in prison as punishment.
It is stated further by AllHipHop that if there are any Covid-19 related scheduling complications, a back-up trial date will be set for February 2023, and that the government expects the trial to last approximately two weeks.
Jordan and Washington have been charged with weapons and drug related crimes which resulted in the death of Jam-Master Jay, who was shot and killed at his Queens recording studio in October 2002. 36-year-old Karl Jordan is accused of firing the shot that killed Jay as he played video games in his Queens recording studio. Although Ronald Washington is not alleged to have pulled the trigger, he is being charged with conspiring with Jordan to commit the murder.
