Havoc: "There's a Lotta Drama in Queens"

In an exclusive interview with Havoc of Mobb Deep, he explained why Queens rap artists tend to stress where they are from a bit more perhaps than other boroughs.

"We all know that it's recognized that Hip-Hop started in the Bronx," the producer/MC explained. "When Hip-Hop starts in the Bronx and spreads to the other boroughs including Queens, we all wanted our own identity. We didn't want to be identified as being from the Bronx, you wanna represent where you're from."

He went on to explain the perception of Queens by other parts of New York. "There's a misconception of Queens being just houses and nice, but there's a lotta drama in Queens. We probably have a little complex where we are constantly saying that we're from Queens because we wanna stand out. We wanna let you know that we are not from the Bronx, we are not from Brooklyn — we are from Queens!"
