In a recent Ask Me Anything session on Twitter, Freddie Gibbs suggested that his latest release, $oul $old $eparately might be his last album.

When a fan asked if Montana, which was rumored to be the follow-up to his 2019 acclaimed effort, Bandana, would ever be released, he replied it wasn't going to happen.

“No. This my last album. Ask Madlib,” he wrote. And when asked what advice he had to give to newcomers to the music industry, to which he replied, “Own as much shit as you can.”

In an interview earlier this month, he seemed to allude to the same thing when he was asked about the possibility of an Alfredo 2 with Alchemist. Alfredo was released to much acclaim in 2020, and since then, fans have been eager for a follow-up.

“It’s funny you say that but I just told you that every time I do an album I feel like I might not do another one," he told Bootleg Kev. "I got a lot of stuff to do. This whole process [of] recording an album. I barely got to see my kids a lot, touring, man I’m really ready to just chill, dog. I don’t know if I can go through the process of recording an album no more. I don’t know if I can.”

As for his latest release, it's the rapper’s most successful solo project to date, debuting within the top 20.
