Fat Joe: "I Got So Paranoid I Ran Out of the House Naked"

Fat Joe, who's scheduled to host his one-man show this fall, is showcasing his comical storytelling skills ahead of time. While celebrating the opening day of the Roc Nation School of Music Sports & Entertainment on Tuesday (September 20), Joe opened up about that time he had a paranoid trip while smoking weed with a friend.

“So I’m in my apartment I’m still in The Bronx, and she convinces me to get high,” Fat Joe remembered. “She goes, ‘Yo lets smoke this weed, it’s incredible…so I smoke. I got so paranoid I ran out the house butt naked, real talk. In the middle of the night. I ran out of there, they call that a bad trip or something right? I ran out of there and the girl, she pulls up in my car. I have the white Lexus and she’s like ‘Joe, Joe, get in the car.’ I was already Fat Joe too…I was like, ‘I’m gonna die! I gotta go to the hospital! I’m gonna die."

Thankfully, he listened to his friend and got into the car.  “So she convinced me to get in the car and said she was gonna take me to the hospital and she takes me around the block and we go in the crib and I take like seven showers," he said. "I never want you guys to see Fat Joe running naked down the street!”

His story was a warning to attendees that you can't be high all of the time and be a high-functioning adult. “If Fat Joe was high he’d be broke,” he said, though he did add he intends to make a foray into the cannabis business.

As aforementioned, Fat Joe is set to star in a one-man stand-up show. The theatrical experience is based on his upcoming memoir, The Book of Jose will include unfiltered, never-before-heard anecdotes about the rapper's life and career – from the time he spent in prison a decade ago to that time he was kidnapped in Angola, Africa.

“The world will be getting Fat Joe at his most authentic, vulnerable, and comedic self on that stage,” Joe said in a press release. “I’m not holding anything back. I’ve always taken pride in my storytelling, but we’re about to take it to the next level."
