Hip-hop legend Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of the iconic RUN-DMC is coming back with a new solo track set to hit streaming services on Monday (November 29). DMC’s forthcoming single, “Ghetto Metal,” is a hardcore hip-hop and heavy metal track with funk influences produced by platinum-selling composer Big K.O.
The collaboration between DMC and BIG K.O. is a full-circle moment, as BIG K.O. was inspired by the Hollis, Queens emcee’s genre-bending songs like “Walk This Way,” and “Tougher Than Leather,” which prompted the platinum-selling producer to pick up his first guitar at 10 years old.
“When we start rocking, we’re changing the game,” BIG K.O. and King DMC said in a statement promoting their forthcoming record.
BIG K.O. tells Rock The Bells that there is a remix featuring New York City duo MOP in the vault that’ll be released after the original record.
“Ghetto Metal” will be accompanied by a dynamic live performance music video with DMC and a live studio band led by DMC and BIG K.O.
Stay tuned to Rock The Bells for more on this and other classic hip-hop news.
