Chuck D, Missy Elliott, Offset and Others Condemn Texas School Shooting

On May 24, 18 year old shooter identified as Salvador Ramos gunned down 21 people, 19 of them students, at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Many in the Hip-Hop community took to social media and voiced their frustrations over yet another mass shooting in the United States. Missy Elliott called for the restoration of peace at a time when people are struggling financially, physically and mentally. Westside Gunn, Chuck D, Offset of Migos and others posted their thoughts and offered condolences.

According to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the shooter opened fire at Robb Elementary School at around 11:30 a.m. after abandoning his vehicle. He later barricaded himself in the building where he was allegedly killed by a border patrol agent. This shooting comes exactly ten days after the deadly shooting at Tops grocery store in Buffalo, New York where an 18 year old shooter targeted and killed mostly African American shoppers (11 of the 13 killed were African American).

The Robb Elementary School shooting is the deadliest since the 2012 shooting in Newtown, Conn where 26 victims lost their lives , twenty of them were children between six and seven years old.
