Cardi B has dropped her first song since 2021's "Up," a collaborative track with Kanye West and Lil Durk. The song, "Hot Shit," is a summer-friendly track produced by Tay Keith, and was mentioned back in January when Kanye talked about it during a Hollywood Unlocked interview.

“My cousins was saying, ‘Come by here’ yesterday but ... I was finishing that verse for your girl,” he said. “I always believed in her since she was on [Love & Hip-Hop], period.”

On Twitter Spaces, Cardi said she thinks the song is actually older than "W.A.P." and that she's been sitting on it for three years although it's actually "everyone's favorite." Later on Instagram Live, she admitted she was reluctant to drop the track without a video but decided to anyway to appease her fans and to showcase her versatility.

“I love the record," she said. "It’s something that I feel like y’all haven’t heard from me before. I feel like people is expecting a lot of slutiness and blah, blah, blah. Y’all keep talkin’ I keep making TikTok records and this is definitely not that. It’s a fun great record. It’s masculine, it’s great for the clubs, it’s great for the bitches.”
