“There was a concerted effort to include as many Houstonians in this show as possible,” Bun added. “We didn’t want anyone to have a good reason not to come to this show.”

That was what Bun B had to say about the huge night that ensued at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Friday, March 11. The UGK legend took the occasion to celebrate decades of Houston Hip Hop on the rodeo stage; becoming the first local Black man to headline at the rodeo.

Bun brought out hometown heroes Slim Thug, Lil Keke and Z-Ro, along with Chamillionaire and ESG, the night was recognition of Houston's rap legacy and a memorable moment for the near-capacity crowd of 73,257 inside of Reliant Stadium.

The show began with a sizzle video starring Texas sports legends: Kendrick Perkins, Booker T, Andre Johnson, Warren Moon, Vince Young, Stephen Jackson, Jeff Bagwell, and Earl Campbell. Bun performed “Draped Up” before Slim Thug hit the stage for “Thug,” and Paul Wall was on-hand to perform “Sittin Sidewayz” and “Still Tippin.'"  Lil Flip and Devin The Dude made appearances, as well as R&B group H-Town, Letoya Luckett, Willie D of the Geto Boys and even the godfather J. Prince delivered a statement to the audience.

“Greatest city in the world,” Bun declared to the crowd.
