A new Biz Markie documentary, All Up In the Biz, is set to have its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Festival this June in NYC.

The documentary is directed by Sacha Jenkins and features celebrity interviews, rare film, reenactments, and animation. Specifically, Tara Hall, Nick Cannon, Tracy Morgan, Big Daddy Kane, Fat Joe, Daryl McDaniels, Doug E. Fresh, Dapper Dan, Prince Paul, Rakim, and Marley Marl, who is responsible for producing Biz's early work, will all appear in the film.

Prince Paul handled the film's score, and he spoke about working on the documentary in an interview with Variety.

“I just finished scoring a documentary for Biz Markie,” Prince Paul said. “Just finished that, and watching it and then scoring it was so tough because I’d known him since I was a kid, so it was bittersweet. There were things about him I didn’t even know. And another part that made it bittersweet is it was the first thing I ever scored without my friend [Don] Newkirk, who passed in November. That was way different for me. He’s been there ever since I’ve started making music.”

The release of the documentary falls in line with the 35th anniversary of his pivotal album, Goin' Off, which is still one Hip-Hop's most celebrated offerings.

The Tribeca Festival will take place June 7-18.
