Big L Was Set to Sign With Roc-A-Fella Records Before His Death

Last week (2/15) marked the 24th anniversary of DITC's Big L. L released music on Columbia Records, Rawkus and his own Flamboyant Entertainment, but a social media post last week seems to have taken a step further, and appears to confirm that Big L signed to Roc-A-Fella just days before his death.

The post is based around a voice message that sounded like the voice of Big L said, "Check it out y'all, this is Flamboyant Entertainment, make sure y'all come thru to Pulse Thursday, February 18."

The post states that the message was to commemorate Big L signing to Dame Dash, Jay-Z and Karriem "Biggs" Burke's Roc-a-Fella Records. The plan was reportedly for Big L to sign the deal with The Roc along with Mc Gruff, Stan and C-Town as a group called The Wolfpack.

Big L, who was once a member of Children of The Corn along with Ma$e, Cam'ron, Mc Gruff and Bloodshed was murdered on February 15, 1999, at 45 West 139 Street in Harlem.

He came to prominence in the early 1990s and was celebrated for his witty wordplay and clever punchlines. His Columbia Records 1995 debut, Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous produced the singles "Put It On" and "MVP." In 2000, Rawkus Records/Flamboyant Entertainment released the posthumous album The Big Picture. Joey Bada$$ recently expressed interest in portraying Big L if a biopic ever comes to fruition.
