Apple Music is celebrating 50 years of Hip-Hop with its 20-episode Hip-Hop DNA audio series hosted by Ebro Darden. The series launched with five episodes subtitled "Origins."

"Intro", the first episode highlights how future rap stars learned from their predecessors. "Bronx Tale" examines the iconic borough and the acts that it birthed such as KRS-ONE and Cardi B. Hip-Hop's relationship with Rock music is highlighted in the "Just Wanna Rock" episode which focuses on The Beastie Boys and Run-DMC. Roxanne Shantè, Nas and A Tribe Called Quest are the focus of an episode that highlights the borough of Queens tilted "It's A Queens Thing Baby."

The remaining DNA episodes will focus on regional acts from the east coast, midwest and the south. Other episode will highlight the elements of MCing, DJing, B-Boying and Graffiti. Hip-Hop DNA is one of many celebrations of Hip-Hop's 50th anniversary, including the Grammy Awards Hip-Hop tribute that took place in February and upcoming celebrations at various museums. There are also a number of block parties planned in New York and other areas in celebration of Hip-Hop's 50th. And of course, the Rock The Bells Festival, taking place in NYC this August, will also kick off a week of live events, activations, and programming in honor of Hip-Hop's 50th anniversary.
