The Hotness: Meagan Good

The Hotness: 10 Pics of the Goodness That Is Meagan Good

"Throughout life, I've always approached relationships as understanding that at some point, they'll get to the place that they're going to, and then they would be over. I've always had an attitude of like, 'Alright, next chapter. We'll see what's next,' and being okay with that and appreciating what you give to someone and what they give to you and sharing a moment in time and in life that you never get back regardless of how it ends."

Meagan Good has been in the news a lot lately. There's the acclaim for her show on Amazon, Harlem. About four professional Black women who are friends from college, the series has been the television home run Good has been building towards for years. And her personal life has been a topic of discussion, following her split from longtime husband, Devon Franklin, in late 2021.

But one thing about Meagan Good, the star has always been grounded. She'd have to be; having been a bonafide sex symbol for almost 20 years; a successful actress and entrepreneur. Staying centered is how she's navigated fame since she was a teenager. And she makes it look easy. And obviously—she also makes it look good.

Nothing Wrong With Sexy

“I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with being sexy,” she said to Rolling Out Magazine back in 2014. “God created our bodies as women. He created us to be beautiful, to be sexy, to be powerful, to be fearless — to be amazing."

Powerful, Worthy

"I want every woman to know how powerful they are and how worthy they are. You deserve every single thing that God has for you; the world needs you because there's nobody else in the world like you, literally, nobody."

"My authenticity is my superpower," Good told Buzzfeed last year. "The more I lean into myself unapologetically, the more impactful I can be for the world. Leaning into who I am has brought a lot of peace, a lot of power, and a lot of freedom."

"I don't have a ton of industry friends — I have people that I love and consider friends, but in terms of my core friends, most of them have been my friends for 20-something years and we grew up in the Valley together."

Prayer Before Everything

I start every day with God. Before I touch that phone, before I do anything, I get up and pray. Then I say my affirmations over myself, read my word, and start my day.

"Don't Believe Your Own Hype"

"People always say that they're surprised that I'm nice. People have also told me that they're surprised that I'm so normal and I'm not entirely sure what they mean by that. But in the same breath, I do, because I've met some interesting characters in Hollywood. I'm like, "You know this industry isn't real, right? Don't believe your own hype. It's not a real thing."

The Skin I'm In

"To me, your skin is like a great pair of shoes that you have to wear for the rest of your life. You want to treat them a certain kind of way. I only get this skin for the rest of my life, so I want to make sure I really take care of it, love on it and appreciate it."

"I think that we all have those relationships in life, where we're kind of forever connected to someone in some weird way. You connected at some point in life, and you always remember that point and it's so specific."

On Meeting Prince

"He has mirror panels lining the wall, so as he's coming around the corner, I see millions of him," Good recalled in 2021. "He had on these silk pajamas, with his hair up, and these platform sandals. I'm not going to tell you the whole story, because I want to save some of it for myself, but he wanted to do this project about a young Malcolm X that was a female, and he wanted me to play that character."

Excited For What's Next

"I still am hopeful for the future," she told xoNecole. "Maybe this isn't a chapter, but I just feel that it's my next act in life and I trust God. Not everything makes sense to me right now, but I do trust God overall and I'm excited to see what this next act of life is going to be and what God has in store."
