Yo! MTV Raps brought Rap music and Hip-Hop culture into the living rooms of mainstream America in 1988, and this month the groundbreaking show is making a return. Paramount + has announced that the reboot will hit the streaming platform on May 24th. The reboot will be hosted by battle rapper Conceited and DJ Diamond, and will feature music videos, cyphers, tributes and live performances. Fans of the original program will be delighted to know that 50 original episodes will become available on May 5, a first as these episodes have never been available to stream until now.

The original Yo! MTV Raps debuted in the U.S. on August 6, 1988 and the show's last episode aired on August 17th 1995. The show was created by the late Ted Demme and Peter Dougherty and was the first Hip-Hop program on the once 24 hour music network. The pilot episode was hosted by Run-D.M.C. and featured Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, with the first video ever aired on the program being "Follow The Leader" by Eric B. & Rakim. Graffiti artist Fab 5 Freddy and Dr. Dre & Ed Lover served as hosts of the show. See the trailer for the reboot below.
