Casablanca Records was the home of Donna Summer, KISS, The Village People, Lipps Inc. and George Clinton's Parliament. The legendary label is now the subject of a new film titled Spinning Gold. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 31, 2023 and is directed by Timothy Bogart, the son of Casablanca co-founder Neil Bogart.

Jason Derulo will star as Ron Isley of the Isley Brothers, Chris Redd will portray legendary radio DJ Frankie Crocker, Michael Ian Black stars as KISS manager Bill Aucoin, and rapper Wiz Khalifa portrays funk legend, George Clinton. "I like being a novice at things, and learning on the job and getting better,” Khalifa told NBC about his acting. “I would rate myself as like, a six. But that’s just me being insecure. I had people telling me I was a natural.”

Early reports announced that Tayla Parx would star as Donna Summer and that Ledisi would star as Gladys Knight.

"Spinning Gold is about a group of people who, once upon a time, lived a fairytale and made their dreams come true, all set to some of the greatest music ever pressed in vinyl,” Timothy Bogart said. “Bringing these dreamers and artists to life has been the privilege of my life. For a film about one of the greatest salesmen in the entertainment business, I am thrilled to be working with Christian, Marc, and the entire team of Capstone to share this timeless story to audiences and music lovers around the world.”

The soundtrack to the film will reportedly feature new versions of songs by Parliament, Bill Withers, Gladys Knight, The Village People, and The Edwin Hawkins Singers.
