On a recent episode of Drink Champs, Treach of Naughty By Nature discussed his early Hip-Hop influences and how listening to their music keeps him sharp.
When asked by co-host N.O.R.E. if he listened to his own music for inspiration, Treach revealed that listening to others motivated him.
"Listening to my music takes me back to dark places, but I listened to everybody else's and that made me write," he shared. "I had to listen to my music enough so I could remember the lyrics on stage, but I love Hip-Hop so much that what made me better was listening to everybody else. [MCs] were dope as fuck in the seventies, eighties, and nineties."
Treach told Rock The Bells earlier this year that he is readying his solo album, and that Eminem is the only person that he has in mind to collaborate with so far.
"When Eminem shouts me out its nothin' but love," the 'Uptown Anthem' MC said. "Eminem said he almost stopped rappin' when he heard me, but when I heard Eminem I almost stopped rappin'. I'm like this guy right here, you cant top nothin' he's sayin right now. Not cause he's a white boy, he's gettin' the accolades he's gettin' right now because he's one of the dopest MCs to touch the mic ever in history, and if you have a problem with it say it so he can chew yo ass out the fuckin' frame! I call him my light skinned twin."
Treach then addressed Eminem personally. "Em, I'm working on a solo album and I ain't takin' it to nobody but you. So now you got it out there in the universe, come see me - love you.
