Always-busy veteran producer The Alchemist has returned with a new project, The Alchemist Sandwich, a compilation of two of his EPs Lunch Meat and Bread, which were both released in 2018.
The 10-track project features everyone from Conway and Westside Gunn, to Black Thought, Earl Sweatshirt, Schoolboy Q, and Action Bronson, among others. The Alchemist broke down his creative evolution in a previous interview with ROCK THE BELLS.
"When you're a student, you develop your style. You become your own thing," the L.A.-based producer said. "Later on, you become a teacher and then you're teaching. If you get past that teaching stage, you get to a stage where the student becomes a teacher. Now, if you're wise enough, you can learn from your students. That's the final stage. Those are all stages that I think are vital. I feel like if you could get to that stage where you're a teacher but you're learning from your students, that's the final [part of the] full process. I feel like I'm getting to that place now. I learn a lot from the young friends of mine who do things differently. I don't ever feel like my knowledge and what I've been through makes me more superior or able to veto somebody else and say, ‘Nah. Nah. I've done this.’ I'm at the stage now where I can teach, but I can also sit back and learn from students.”
His new project is available to stream now.
