In addition to making Hip Hop and Super Bowl history, this year’s halftime show will likely lead to a huge boost in streaming and sales for the artists involved. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent took the stage on Sunday and gave what many are calling the greatest Super Bowl halftime performance in recent history. An estimated 29 million households viewed the groundbreaking show (a 19 % increase over last year), which is sure to cause a substantial increase in new fans, a reacquaintance with old fans and ultimately an increase in streaming and merch sales.

Cole Strain, head of measurement at Samba TV said in a statement “The audience that tuned in specifically to watch the halftime show was way up over last year. Samba found that the number of households who tuned in at halftime and then clicked away before the third quarter started rose 60% from 2021.”

According to Forbes Lady Gaga’s music sales increased by 960% the day after the big game in 2017. In 2007 Prince’s sales doubled after his legendary performance and Destiny’s Child’s sales jumped by 40% after their 2013 performance. Looks like Dre Day will equal a pay day.
